A group from Croy-Tech made the long journey (approx 400 miles) up to the Farne Islands
(Seahouses), and were rewarded with some excellent diving and beautiful weather. We all met up on Sunday evening
for a meal to discuss the weeks diving. The divers were Ray Painter, Daniel Golberg, Paul Feakes, Martin Greenwood, Neil Hucks,
Chris & Emma Wheeler, with Don Jackson an ex Croy-Tech member now living in Newcastle joining us for a days diving on
the Monday. Shirley kept us all in order! We were also joined on the trip by Bernice, Wendy and Janet, who I am sure
enjoyed taking in some of the lovely local scenery.
The diving was excellent, with almost flat calm seas every
day. We used Sovereign Divers and Ron was our skipper for all but the first day when Andrew took us out. Visability varied
from a couple of metres on our first dive, due to some very heavy storms over the previous weekend, to a stunning 10 metres
towards the end of our trip.
Dive sites for the week included, Blue Caps, The Hopper, Pinnacles,The Somali and
Britannia. I have been on previous trips to the Farne Islands but for me seeing and playing with Seals in the water was a
very enjoyable experience not shared on my previous trip.
A very big thanks to you Shirley from us all for organising
what turned out to be a terrific 4 days diving and i'm sorry but you have a lot to live up to next year.... Good Weather,
Seals, flat seas and superb accommodation. Of course, not forgetting the Puffins!
