NEWS FLASH!

Croy-Tech Secures Lottery Funding

Great news for the new diving season………

Croy-tech has been awarded a grant of £7,483 by the Lottery Fund under the Awards for All grant scheme. The money will pay for a new engine for the club boat and other vital safety equipment.

Croy-Tech is a friendly dive club with a membership of 30 strong. The Club was founded in the mid 60’s, and draws its membership from Croydon and surrounding areas. The club is community based and has a varied membership of keen divers of all ages and levels of qualification and experience.

The Club has a regular training programme and a number of new young members are currently going through training. Membership numbers have also been boosted by a number of experienced divers who have recently joined us. The Club is always ready to welcome new members whether they are new to the sport or whether they are experienced divers.

The Lottery grant has enabled the club to purchase a new state of the art, fuel efficient engine to replace the old gas guzzler that had done over 10 years faithful service taking Club members to many great Sussex and UK dive sites.  The greater fuel economy of the new engine will enable the Club to give discounts on the cost of a days diving to younger members.

Ashley Talbot, an experienced diver with a great deal of technical knowledge regarding boats and diving, instigated the Awards for All application. (Ashley was also instrumental in securing our previous Lottery grant 10 years ago that enabled the Club to purchase the Club rigid inflatable boat (RIB), berthed at Brighton Marina.)

The 20 page form was duly completed and the form and supporting information was collated by the Club secretary Shirley Painter and the finalised application checked by 3 members of the committee, including  Chairman Daniel Golberg and  Diving & Training Officer Ian Fry.

We were all delighted when we heard that our efforts had been rewarded and that Awards for All had confirmed a grant of £7,483.00, the full sum we had applied for. We are very appreciative of the advice and assistance we received from the Awards for All people, and for the grant of course!

This is a great boost for the Club and we look forward to some great diving this year.

Come and join us
